Research is inherently collaborative. Yet scientific revolutions often come from those whose are new to the field. It seems evident to me that those who have created the issues are unlikely to actually solve it. However, surely there is value to the breadth and depth of existing knowledge and institutional skills which are indigenous to every field. What then is the most effective form of impactful research? The lone genius or the consummate coauthor?
